Microsoft offers their customers a lot of different ways to patch and upgrade their Windows 10 installations, though they did not (as far as i know) have any public documentation that described how organizations should configure Windows Update in their environments.
Recently Microsoft released the Windows 10 Update Baseline, this contains a great PDF document called “Optimizing Windows 10 Update Adoption”. The document gives specific recommendations as to how Windows Update policies should be tuned and why, regardless if you are using MDM (Intune) or Group Policies to configure endpoints in your environment.
